This month we are excited seeing fruit of our labour. Two months back, me and some villagers had planted wheat paddy, now it’s grown big and ready to become a model of the second cropping. Because of the less water, people didn’t want to risk their capital on second cropping, but we successfully showed them that; from the nearby seasonal river, we can get enough water to cultivate our farms. We blocked the river with mud and stones and made a small dam. Water on this dam is sufficient enough to fulfill the need of our farms. We are hoping that next time more other villagers will get involve with us for the second cropping. It’s very hard to convince people for something which they are not used to. Making them do second cropping has always been a great challenge for us.

We have started new group in a place called ‘camp’. There mostly people are migrated from Bangladesh. I have given them the lesson on relief and development with the story of river crossing. They are very enthusiastic to learn themselves and agreed to teach others as well. The people in the camp are living in very congested area, many houses has even no drain to pass the wastage water of their house. There is no drainage facility available. People are suffering from diseases. So I have decided to do the TCD lessons with them to have development in their community.

Computer center is also going on well. The kids are now learning school course. We have kids from different classes such as grade 3rd to university level.  Such as one young girl name Priyanka H., she is very interested in learning computer, though I wrote about her before. Her father is a carpenter and mother is a maid servant. Priyanka is learning computer since one year with our center. She did very well in her computer subject in the school.

These are but a few of the reports I have received monthly from our TCD ventures in India.  Thanks to you, we are able to move forward in many other villages and in many other venues of TCD!  Thank you!!!  Daniel

Nepal – DR … to TCD !

Little boy & bag (village help) - Nepal
Little boy & bag (village help) – Nepal

GHNI-Nepal is wholly committed to TCD-Transformational Community Development. Disaster Relief, in the mean time, has consumed all our energies and resources to date since the earthquakes. We are still in the throws of disaster relief right now.

The majority of our income-donations for Nepal continues to be requested and focused on DR. Vast numbers of villages are still in need of DR help from so many sources, and we are helping in every conceivable way we can in GHNI.

Winter is coming quick, and shelter from the elements is essential to all remote villages. So we continue disaster relief.

Yet … yet, GHNI is not primarily a DR agent. So as soon as we can see the “light-of-day” from DR … we are transitioning in TCD! Thanks for being so faithful in helping us in this hoped-for transition coming soon in Nepal. It’s our heart to provide self-sustainability as quickly as possible … !

Geneva Leadership Team – Africa/Middle East/Asia

Geneva Leadership Team
Geneva Leadership Team

Within every worthy endeavor is healthy authentic servant leadership. Geneva Switzerland and across the border in France, GHNI hosted its regional leaders from Africa, the Middle East and Asia. GHNI labors in very difficult areas of these regions. This requires all of our staff to lead in a fashion of serving each other out of each of our sources of strength.

For one leader, it may be a strength of personality, influence. For another it may be primarily from abilities to raise donor/financial awareness. For another it may be in cross-cultural initiatives and training. For yet another it may be in their primary role of administration and/or logistics. For others it may be in their technical background. The key is that we recognize and come alongside each other in their need(s), thereby fulfilling accomplishments impossible for any one individual.

Water, Good Water Always Has A Start – Dhangadhi, Nepal

Water, good water endeavors, take a measure of time, resources and people-power to accomplish.

"Beginnings" Of A New Well Being Dug
“Beginnings” Of A New Well Being Dug

Wrapping up my time in Dhangadhi, Nepal after our GHNI anti-Human Trafficking Conference, I was able to visit and assess three well sites we(actually you!) have been sponsoring and re-equipping. Each well has it’s own unique history. One was being newly established. While another was already long-term and pumping clean quality water for much-needed irrigation of rice and other crops. And yet another was in the process (literally, while we were there) of being changed over from a high-maintenance/high-energy consumption diesel pump … to an extremely low-maintenance/highly efficient electric pump. All you-GHNI sponsored!

It’s difficult to put into words all the help and benefits provided in each of these well installations and upgrades. Allow your imagination some entertainment in a few of these listed below. And then “CLICK ON” each/BOTH of the “CLICK ON” texts below to link to a brief video from David(our GHNI Dhangadhi, Nepal Field Lead) to get some additional “fluid perspective” on (1) our work there and (2) the new water being pumped.

* Water: provides for many abundant needs ranging from 2nd-season irrigation, cooking, washing, hygiene, thirst
* Work: provides for needs to work, self-esteem, physical activity and wholeness of life
* Weather: provides for non-season non-monsoonal water needs when water tables are lowest
* Worth: micro-enterprise is a GHNI pillar, providing many potentials for incomes and additional incomes generation
* Winning: Hope is desperately needed in each of our lives. Hope runs in abundance in these TCD endeavors!!!

Thanks to YOU … this is all available to increasing numbers of people in “this your village”! 🙂
