Bay of Bengal – New Village LocationTeam GHNI Bay of Bengal VillageMango Harvesting – New Village Bay of Bengal
GHNI is always seeking out the best relationships and villages in which to vest. May, offered me the privilege to go with Sushil Marandi, to assess and meet his team, as they plan to move into the area and develop TCD. Four hours south of Kolkota, this team of three men of integrity, were all raised in the same orphanage in West Bengal. They have huge hearts to live in this new village and together, bring this community into it’s full potential of self-sustainability. This could easily become “THE” Model TCD village, offering to mentor itself out to neighboring villages.

STT-Short Term Team from Orlando, Florida was on the ground only days ago in the Roma/Gypsy village of Dorgovska Mahala, Lebane, SERBIA. In every capacity, this team complimented each other as they served the local community in basic health evaluations of blood-work, urine analysis, blood pressure, weight and height, and eye exams. We in GHNI are extremely proud of this team, as they worked so well together, allowing the translator(Filip) to weave through all the activities for three days of non-stop fun, relationship-building, and the serious nature of health screenings. Somewhat expecting reluctancy initially from the Roma community, they quickly took to us and our desire to serve in these capacities.

TCD-Transformational Community Development was taught on two different days, and a measurably high percentage of the attendees ended the sessions, eager to implement what they had learned so far, unreserved! This certainly excites us in GHNI, as it means the local TCD-Trainer (Snezana) has both done an excellent job of preparing their lives relationally for sustainable development … and will be allowed to continue vesting in their lives in the coming year and years.
Year ahead looks extremely promising, as we look to Snezana for continued leadership and the hope of adding an additional trainer from within this Roma/Gypsy community! This potential person is key in allowing them as Roma, to lift themselves out of generational entrenched poverty.
Thanks to you in abundance for allowing all this to happen so quickly and in such a quality manner, all in only one year so far! If you would enjoy helping this particular Roma village lift themselves out of poverty, and in turn preparing them to lift other Roma villages in the area out of poverty, please visit us at:
Again, thanks for all you are and do for this special village in South Serbia!!! Dan

This month we are excited seeing fruit of our labour. Two months back, me and some villagers had planted wheat paddy, now it’s grown big and ready to become a model of the second cropping. Because of the less water, people didn’t want to risk their capital on second cropping, but we successfully showed them that; from the nearby seasonal river, we can get enough water to cultivate our farms. We blocked the river with mud and stones and made a small dam. Water on this dam is sufficient enough to fulfill the need of our farms. We are hoping that next time more other villagers will get involve with us for the second cropping. It’s very hard to convince people for something which they are not used to. Making them do second cropping has always been a great challenge for us.

We have started new group in a place called ‘camp’. There mostly people are migrated from Bangladesh. I have given them the lesson on relief and development with the story of river crossing. They are very enthusiastic to learn themselves and agreed to teach others as well. The people in the camp are living in very congested area, many houses has even no drain to pass the wastage water of their house. There is no drainage facility available. People are suffering from diseases. So I have decided to do the TCD lessons with them to have development in their community.
Computer center is also going on well. The kids are now learning school course. We have kids from different classes such as grade 3rd to university level. Such as one young girl name Priyanka H., she is very interested in learning computer, though I wrote about her before. Her father is a carpenter and mother is a maid servant. Priyanka is learning computer since one year with our center. She did very well in her computer subject in the school.
These are but a few of the reports I have received monthly from our TCD ventures in India. Thanks to you, we are able to move forward in many other villages and in many other venues of TCD! Thank you!!! Daniel
