Back Up and Re-group!

Gotta Be Bob
Gotta Be Bob

What’s a better attention-getter than a Bob Marley statue, complements of Universal Studio’s(Orlando, Florida)!

A breather from the travels and overseas’ focus, our GHNI-USA(and Geneva, Switzerland) team gathered in Orlando, Florida for a few days of re-grouping, training, camaraderie and new challenges for our future into ’17 and beyond.  What an incredibly good time of seeing where we’ve been and accomplished in the past 15 years.

Each team member was able to update their specific focus, and do some healthy projections out into the future, laboring together to help each other in virtually all capacities.

From various regions we work in, each of us were mutually encouraged to hear stories of how Transformational Community Development(TCD) was impacting individuals, villages, cultures, and governments, in ways  well beyond each of our individual foci.  “Team” matters!  Administrative responsibilities in Geneva and Orlando matter deeply into each village!

I am privileged to have such surroundings of this team, each grabbing a nearby baton or rope from another to help.  We must have each other!

In the months ahead as you read of villages and lives being transformed, please keep in mind that it’s not “about” me.  It’s about our collaborative efforts into the lives … bring Help and Hope to the Hidden and Hurting.

And a HUGE “Thank You” for being equally a part of this team … !!!

Pratiraksha & Her Knowledge-Transfer “Pull” …

Pratiraksha & Children Health Ed.
Pratiraksha & Children Health Ed.

Pratiraksha is doing such a phenomenal work in and around her home town of Dhangadhi, Nepal! Many times every month, she is spending time with children, parents and family members, “pulling” them into her warm personality and deep knowledge concerning Counter-Human Trafficking, HIV/AIDS awareness, Health, and Education.

One of the beauties of seeing her work is in how she can so easily “draw/pull” a large number of people into her circle of influence, helping them in differing methods of education and the like. She and her mom also run an orphanage of 17 children, and an open-door clinic. Her ability to integrate Transformational Community Development(TCD) of GHNI into all she is and does, has been a win-win for all involved, especially the recipients of her work there in Nepal.

Jatapara(village), India New Pump +

"Thank You" from Jatpara, India
“Thank You” from Jatpara, India

Sponsors on specific endeavors and projects are so encouraging. Jatapara, India is a long way from Hilton Hotel, Hawaii. Yet a “connection” was made relationally between the two, as Hilton chose to sponsor a new well in this village.

Manu(our GHNI staff in Jatapara) is currently leading the way as he mentors into this village, TCD, the “knowledge transfer” so important in any self-sustaining endeavor. We are grateful for he and Babujan, who have successfully completed one year of TCD in 4 villages in their areas.

Additionally, due to such successes as these, Hilton is offering to initiate a “River Water Lifting Project” that will allow a vast increase in crop production during the dry seasons.

We in GHNI are so thankful to you our financial backers, who have allowed us to partake of so many good accomplishments in 2014! Too many to list would be an understatement, as you have allowed us to work and develop in all five areas(Water, Food, Health, Income Generation, and Education) in Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

Joyful Holidays to you in this season of finishing 2014 strong and peering into 2015 with even greater endeavors TOGETHER!
Thanks so very much !!!

Wes & Hal ... having some fun ...

A brief update from one of our own on site (GHNI-Jeff Latsa) sums up this yet another great GILPP-Geneva Institute for Leadership and Public Policy going on all this week in Geneva, Switzerland. So glad GHNI, though not a huge organization, can have such an impact as this, via eager leadership from impoverished nations. Enjoy …

Greetings from Geneva, Switzerland — the home of Global Hope (and the UN). This week I am an instructor at the Geneva Institute for Leadership and Public Policy, put on by GHNI and hosted at the UN. As one of the architects of TCD, I have been asked to teach on “The Mandate of Sustainable Development for the Rural Poor.” I will be teaching government officials many of the same lessons I teach illiterate villagers around the world. I hope the bureaucrats are able to understand the material. 🙂

The Geneva Institute brings emerging leaders from emerging nations together to talk about how to draft legislation that are just and will help the most vulnerable in their countries. Eradicating poverty is a big part of that. However there are many challenges facing these nations. Here is a sample of some of the nations represented here and this issues they face:

Afghanistan – New president to be announced any day now

Myanmar – Just emerging from fifty years of military dictatorship. We are training their new leaders

Northern Iraq (Kurdistan) – Facing recent attacks by ISIS

Nigeria – Facing attacks by Boko Haram (who kidnapped the 300 schoolgirls).
Ethiopia – The only non-Muslim nation on the Red Sea

Egypt – Still struggling with the fallout from the Arab Spring

Syria – A Kurdish representative is here

Thank you for your role in impacting the nations.

Wow … thanks Jeff!
