This 1st Day of December, I’d like us to focus on three TCD/GHNI reports hot off the press, just received across my desk for editing. We edit in a limited fashion, so as to retain some of the smell/flavor/touch in reporting, that goes missing if overly edited. These are all from Nepal and so very encouraging in our labors there!

Story Update: | Many people in the community, have raised income but couldn’t save from their income. I realized that earning and saving should go together. When any emergency situation occurs, they have to be prepared and must have some savings. They need safety. So saving is very important. This month, I have taught TCD lessons about saving money. I encouraged people to save monthly according to their family income. When community people heard this, they became excited about it and agreed to save for their future. Community people realized that no one can make a lot of money at any one time, but if they continue saving they can make a large amount. So by this TCD teaching I hope, community people are forced to start saving for their future. Nowadays, many people in the community are suffering from many kinds of health problems. Community people need to be taught about community health, family health care, and personal health care. I taught them to be aware of their daily food, drinking water, and eating habits. I advised them to go to the clinic from time to time and check their health. I have taught women groups about vaccines that they should take during their pregnancy and having children. Still, people have great money expectations from GHNI. This month I clearly told them GHNI can’t give money but have powerful teaching about community development. And taught them how to find and use so many local resources. How and where to use them? How important is it to invest their local resources? I taught people to try to find a local resource that may go longer than any money GHNI might give them. The community can form committees and develop projects and go to the local government for resources. This teaching helped community people to come out from their traditional mindset and helped them to think differently about owning their futures. SUCCESS STORY This is the story of Smriti Praja, who lives in Ramantar village. She started a beekeeping business. Now has raised a good family income. Earlier she was jobless and joined TCD. Later she was well-trained in TCD and provided some seed money. During the three years period, there is good progress. Now she has 35 bee boxes and has good income sources. Now she is very happy because she became able to raise a good family income source and could help her family. For this success, she wants to give thanks to the TCD committee and GHNI. |

Story Update: | I spent a lot of time visiting families in the village. People are very much encouraged in income generation. Poultry farming is one of the best income generation work for this village. And also it is easier to start. This month, I taught them how to build poultry houses and their maintenance. I taught them about how to care for chickens, feed them, and give them vaccines. This month, four families started poultry as their family business. This is so encouraging! We could do it in coordination with our TCD/GHNI committee, and with the help of the local government. This was so helpful for the community people. They were very much inspired to involve in TCD. I also taught people about how to be safe from Dengue(Dengue viruses are spread to people through the bite of an infected Aedes species (Ae. aegypti or Ae. albopictus) mosquito. ) . Many people have suffered from Dengue in the community. This month I visited the cluster of Luina village and followed up on the income generation work there. Here in Luina village, I taught people about how they can raise income by doing Beekeeping. Mr. Lapta Man Praja, Ram Prasad Praja, and Gahi ram Praja have taken good income from beekeeping. As well as, I organized a meeting with the TCD committee and reminded them of the TCD concept and working strategy, and their responsibilities. Also, we discussed the seed project and how it has helped the community people. We decided to help one family with seed money every month for the family income. We gave seed money to Niru Tamang. She has started a micro shop business. SUCCESS STORY. This is the story of Kalpana Maya Praja. She lives in the Chainapur village in the Makawanpur district. Her husband and daughter lived together. They are poor and had no income sources. It was very hard for Kalpana and her husband to manage their family expenses. After she joined the TCD/GHNI classes, she learned and was encouraged to start a small business. GHNI provided seed money. They built a small poultry farm and took a loan from a women’s co-operative. They started their business and now have a good monthly income and managed their family. |

Story Update: | We have done many activities of teaching and awareness, sometimes getting together in a group and sometimes visiting house to house and having personal meetings. In the community, TCD has given the teaching of Income Generation, Food, Water, Education, and Wellness … the 5 pillars of GHNI/TCD. WATER: I taught children group of the community about the use of clean and safe drinking water. There were ten children in a class and they learned the importance of clean and safe drinking. One family in the community had no opportunity to drink water but after the TCD teaching, now this family installed a hand pump with clean water. The committee took the initiative for this work. EDUCATION: I have taught community people about the importance of education for children and women and encouraged families to send their children to school. This month also I met children and encourage them to go to school and to the parents also I did encourage. Because of TCD now community’s children started to go to school. WELLNESS: The cold has started and many people may suffer from it. So I taught them to be aware of it and if there is any problem then they need to go to the clinic. Because of the community’s TCD teaching, people look healthier than before. INCOME GENERATION: We organized a meeting for the income generation team and discussed it with them. They shared their stories. It encouraged other members of the group. Then I encouraged them on how they can multiply their income sources. I told them that it is not enough to have one or two goats but they need a plan for multiplying goats. SUCCESS STORY: My name is Maya Murmu. I live in KW village. I have 8 family members. We had a hard time because of financial problems. We labor for since long. If we get daily work then we can eat otherwise there will be no food for our family. It was very difficult to meet the basic needs of our children and the family. When I joined TCD/GHNI classes and learned about income generation. Then TCD also provided me with some seed money(for starting a business) and also I took some loans and started my micro business. When I started my business it gave me daily income and made my family life better than before, even in relationships. Now I don’t have problems with the family expenses. I felt victory over the financial problem that I had to face in the past. And I want to give thanks to GHNI for supporting me. Edited |

This is so encouraging, to learn that instruction is offered and help is given so people can learn how to care for their families. So many people just need some training and a little help to improve their way of living. Thank you for offering this blessing to these villages and trusting they are aware the LORD is blessing them in this way.
